Using sustainable practices that prioritise respect for the environment, ‘Capricci’ Toscana IGT Rosso 2021 Limited Production Tuscan wine is created from vines which are more than 50 years old and it expresses the unique taste of the land from which it comes, being characterised by a strong structure and full body.

Our Vines, single vineyard 70 year old grape vines

Our Capricci Toscana IGT Rosso 2021 wines are created from historic vines, planted over 50 years ago located within the view of the sea, 10 minutes from the historic town of Scansano and 30 minutes from Porto Santo Stefano, gateway to the Tuscan archipelago.

• Appellation; Rosso Toscana I.G.T.
• Grapes; 90% Sangiovese, 10% other red and white grapes
• Zone of production; The locality of Mandorlaie, Scansano, Tuscany
• Harvest; Hand harvested with individual bunch selection
• Vinification; Fermentation at a controlled temperature of 25° C with 10 days’ maceration with skins
• Aging; Stainless steel vat 12 months, 9 months French Oak barrel and 3 months aging in the bottle
• Service temperature; 18° C
• Food pairings; Antipasti of crostini and cold cuts, pasta dishes with sauces

• Terroir; A mix of clay and sandy soil at an altitude of 350m above  sea level, minimal rainfall in Maremma means Capricci Toscana IGT Rosso 2021 grapes that produce an enhanced flavour profile
• Winemaking – The way our grapes are fermented, aged, and bottled all impacts the final flavor of our wine. our wine aged in oak barrels will have different tastes than those aged in stainless steel barrels.

When we look at wines created in the  Tuscany Region we see that many are classed as I.G.T wines, and as part of the ensuring quality they must be made from vine varieties included in the official list for the Region of Tuscany.

The Toscana I.G.T Rosso,  is definitely not a less “important” wine than one with a DOC/DOCG label, infact during the recent history of Tuscan viticulture and oenology some of the best examples of innovation and quality wines fall into the IGT category, there can be several reasons for this, one being that the IGT classification gives more freedom in wine creation, this means freedom from the constraints that surround DOC/DOCG wine status allowing us to create the amazing Capricci Toscana IGT Rosso 2021.

However, we must not conclude that this is always the case: the great majority of Tuscan wines bearing the IGT label do so out of necessity. Makers feel they need to exploit the potential of their business beyond the limitations imposed by regulations governing DOC and DOCG production.
